Snow White & the Seven Dwarves Cookies (& Peppa Pig too!)

I have a request for Snow White and the seven dwarves cookies so here they are :)

The job of making these cookies would be A LOT easier if you have specialized cookie cutters with the details imprinted on the mould. Even if you don't have specialized cutters, you can still have a relatively easy job if you own a Kopykake projector. Professional cookie bakers like the ones you see from Sweetsugarbelle and Sweetopia  use this projector to do away with the need for a template when icing the cookies. But this projector costs a few hundred dollars and I am not willing to invest in one yet.

I made some templates out of plastic for cutting out the cookie dough and tracing part of the features onto baked cookies. There's a fair bit of freehand drawing but having the templates as a guide helps.

Please refer to this post for the brown sugar cookie and royal icing recipe. I baked these large cookies (about 9-10cm) at 160-170°C for 15-18 minutes.

Works in progress! I had to make 2 Peppa pig cookies too.

Almost all done!

Adding on rosy cheeks for Snow White with peach coloured Lustre dust.

This project is not for the impatient and faint-hearted but the end result is truly satisfying! It took me two nights (I have family to look after during the day) to prepare the templates, a day to bake the cookies and let them rest, a day to outline the cookies with icing and a day to fill the cookies. Days of work for TEN cookies! According to the experts, they avoid making character cookies if they can help it (even with Kopykake projectors) as a slight deviation in facial features can cause the end result to look very different from the original. I am so glad that at least this Disney version of Snow White and the dwarves are recognisable despite some flaws in my icing work!

With love,
Phay Shing
