This is a sweet dreamy creation combining Pink Ombre chiffon cake with Rainbow chiffon cake, topped by a Chiffon cake Rainbow and Chiffon cake Unicorn! The recipes for the Rainbow and Ombre chiffon cakes, as well as Chiffon rainbows are in the Creative Baking: Chiffon Cakes book that just came out this week in all major bookstores (Popular, Kinokuniya etc.) in Singapore! So excited! Do keep a lookout! =)
With lots of love,
Susanne
Hi Suzanne, I bought yr book n followed instructions to make rainbow chiffon. I can't obtain the even layers. How do u get every layers to be even please?!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a matter of practice to try spread evenly. Meringue must not be too stiff otherwise hard to spread. Also try to spread gently, if you use too much strength, you may disturb the layers below. Hope it helps
DeleteHi Suzanne, I made your rainbow chiffon as a trial today for my girls' bday and was quite successful, thank you! In your book, u are using 18 inch pan but I only have a 21 inch pan instead. I am wondering if I want more prominent layers, how do I scale the portions. Thank u!
ReplyDeleteoh yay! You can divide everything by 5 times 6. I assume you are saying 18-cm (7-inch) and 21-cm (8-inch)? Thanks
DeleteHi Susanne, sorry for not being clear. I made the rainbow layer cake in your book using a 21inch pan, I followed the recipe in the book which is meant for 18 inch, I guess by doing so, my layers of each colour will be thinner compared to using a smaller pan. How do I scale it to get the same effect as yours.
ReplyDeleteHi I think you can divide by 5 times 7 (I think you mean cm not inch right?). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Susanne, blur me yes cm!! Thank you very much. Looking forward to your 2nd book ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha no worries! Thank you!
DeleteHi Susanne,
ReplyDeleteIs the unicorn a macaron or also chiffon cake? Will the instructions on how to make the unicorn be in your book? Thank you.
Hi Louise, the unicorn is chiffon cake. But this book doesn't have unicorn. The next chiffon book has many animals but no unicorn also. Thanks
DeleteHihi Susanne, I'm quite confused by the conversion for diff tin size.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the rational behind?
Says to convert from 7inch to 9inch, also to convert 9inch to 8inch. TIA!
Hi are you Cindy? Answered you on fb haha.. It's mostly from experience. 7inch to 9inch usually double the recipe ie 3 egg yolks to 6 egg yolks. 9inch to 8 inch should be something like divided by 6 times 5. Hope it helps thanks!
DeleteHi Susanne, can I know the pan size for this cake? Are they 18cm and 23cm? I bought your book so I presume I swap the recipe for rainbow and ombre cake? Coz in your book ombre is bigger pan size.
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the multi colored chiffon cake. One question I have is: wouldnt the cake come out with a brown outer layer, for example my pandan chiffon cake has a brown outer layer, so does my orange chiffon cake, etc. How can I get that nice color like you do?
ReplyDeleteAnother question: Must chiffon cakes always be baked in the chiffon cake tin with a hole in the center? What if I use an ordinary round cake tin?
ReplyDeleteWould the result be the same? Thank you.
Hi I'm interested in this cake. Can I place an order?
